Features and Benefits
Manufacturers and industrial facilities need connectors that operate reliably in harsh environments that are subject to extreme temperatures, dust and moisture. These connectors must simplify integration into existing systems, facilitate upgrades, adapt to different devices, and enable expansion or reduction of capacity to meet market needs.
Robust and reliable interconnect options help improve productivity and reduce production downtime by minimizing failures and maintenance costs. Versatile connectors help streamline system expansions, reductions or upgrades, enabling faster and more nimble adaptation to shifting market requirements. The use of industry-standard interfaces helps accelerate system integration, which limits downtime and design work.
Heavy-Duty Connectors (HDCs) from Molex deliver reliable service in extreme temperatures and harsh conditions, reducing failure rates with IP66, IP68 or IP69 seal ratings that support consistent performance. HDCs offer modular and flexible connections that simplify network design and enable quick changeovers to support shifting production needs. These connectors are compatible with a wide range of industry standards and other manufacturers’ products, simplifying integration with existing devices and infrastructure.

Frequently Asked Questions
How can heavy-duty connectors help optimize space in control cabinets?
Monolithic and modular inserts enable power, signal, circular bus, high-voltage and pneumatic connections to be made in a single connector, reducing space requirements. Flexible cable outlet directions and hoods that enable the use of large-diameter cables in tight spaces help optimize space in constrained cabinets and enclosures.
What terminal options are available?
Molex HDCs offer industry-standard crimp, screw and spring-loaded terminals as well as push-in terminals that don’t require any tooling at all for installation, helping minimize the need for specialized tooling and training.
Do Molex heavy duty connectors match industry-standard formats?
Yes, Molex HDCs meet industry standards for heavy-duty connectors. These standards enable HDCs to be intermateable between manufacturers. Types 3A, 10A, 16A, 32A, 6B, 10B, 16B, 24B, 32B, 48B and others are available.
What is the maximum capacity (circuits and amps) of heavy-duty connectors?
HDCs support up to 108 circuits (216 poles) at 10.0A per pole or support up to 200.0A per pole with three circuits (six poles) per connector for high-current applications.
