Molex Ireland Celebrates 40 Years of Operations

May 19, 2011

Shannon, Ireland – May 19, 2011 — Molex Ireland, based in Shannon County Clare is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The wholly owned subsidiary of Molex Incorporated began operations in 1971 in the Shannon Free Zone. Forty years later, the operation continues to be a strong force for innovation in the global interconnection marketplace, developing and producing exciting new product solutions for a diverse customer base.

As part of the anniversary celebration, the Molex Board of Directors and executives were shown the new products and advanced process technologies located in Molex Ireland. In addition to its core product ranges, the plant is developing and releasing interconnection solutions for solar power, rugged environment sealed connector technologies and medical applications. Executives from Shannon Development joined the Board members and honored Molex for its progress and commitment to growing business in the region.

“Molex Ireland is a truly inspirational company. Shannon Development has been delighted to work with the Company through all phases of their development since the establishment of their Irish operation at Shannon in 1971,” said Dr. Vincent Cunnane, chief executive, Shannon Development. “Their success once again demonstrates the continued appeal of the Shannon Free Zone as a location for FDI investment, and we look forward to continuing to work with Molex to grow their business into the future.”

A reason for the success—Molex Ireland has been able to grow its operations and adapt to the ever-changing global business climate in the midst of economic challenges.

“For 40 years, Molex Ireland’s team of dedicated and skilled people has applied new and innovative solutions to meet the challenges of a changing global marketplace. The one constant during the past 40 years has been change—new customers, new systems, new products and new technologies driving us forward all the time. I am really proud of the strength our people have shown through the years, by constantly adapting to change,” said John O’Brien, vice president, IPD/Europe Operations, Molex.

“We are working hard to build our future by solving our customers’ connectivity challenges with our product development focused on the areas of environmentally robust connectors, solar energy and medical applications,” added O’Brien. “It is great to know that we have 40 years of experience and expertise behind us as we look to the future.”
